We’ve got our hands on one of BioSure’s new HIV Home-testing kits, let’s see what’s inside…
As we covered last week the first home-testing kits for HIV are now on sale in the UK. The first to market are BioSure with their 15 minute test, and they’ve been kind enough to provide beyondpositive with a kit for us to look at.
The test arrives in a discreet plain white package. Inside is a white cardboard box hinged, like a book, and sealed with a magnetic flap. Within the box you have:
- Your testing device
- A safety lancet
- Sticking plaster
- A testing guide booklet
- A card on steps to take after your result
- A card asking for anonymous feedback on your experience with the test
- Regulatory information leaflet.
The test is pretty straightforward, and results appear after 15 minutes. Watch our video below for our editor, Tom Hayes’, unboxing of the kit and his thoughts on home-testing for HIV. You can also read Tom’s piece on why he’d rather have received his HIV diagnosis at home over at VICE UK…
